Our hike today yielded a couple of surprises. The first was a dead tree that fallen across the road. Usually this is a job for Park maintenance, but Duane felt that the tree was small enough for him to handle. Normally it would be, but this one was saturated with water from the recent downpours.
He was up to the job, though. He picked up one end and pivoted the the tree off the path.
A bit further on we found a living tree completely blocking the path.
After careful examination, Duane decided that only the top branches were across the path, and that he could take care of this one too.
20 minutes of hand saw and nipper work
and the path was clear again.
Duane enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment and I enjoyed watching him.
That was fun!
