Our friends Doug and Jan took advantage of the beautiful weather (warm sun, cool air) to ride 1 1/2 hours from Congress to visit us. They arrived in time to join us on a short (10 min.) ride to a local restaurant for lunch.
At the rv park entrance we turned left and headed toward Saddle Mountain, where we turned left again.
We’re in the desert here, but, as I’ve said before, it’s amazing what a little water can do. The usually bare ground is covered with green grass, the result of recent rain.
We also passed lots of irrigated fields growing maize, some kind of vegetables, and cotton.
We rode to the stop light. Here is a little settlement called Wintersburg. It consists of a daycare center just to the right, and at the light a Dollar General store on the left, our restaurant on the right, a fueling station to the right of the restaurant, and a few scattered houses.
Lunch was at the Tin Top.
Inside we shared a booth, good food, and great conversation.
After lunch we rode back to our “house” and continued our visit sitting outside in the pleasant weather. All too soon it was time for Doug and Jan to head home. Next time we’ll do the driving to Congress to share Thanksgiving dinner with them.
Back to our regular day tomorrow.
Louise and Duane
