Happy Birthday!

No, not mine again.  We used our last night here in Trenton, TX to take the twins out for their birthday.  Though it isn't until mid June, we thought it would be more fun to celebrate now.

We usually keep our back seats up.  Grandpa doesn't let just anyone use them!

First stop, Cheddars for dinner,

and dessert.  Four spoons and about a minute later we were were ready for phase 2--shopping!

Their favorite books, and new mechanical pencils.

We didn't forget "the littles".

One last visit with the family.

We collected our hugs and kisses and headed out the door.

Moving day tomorrow.

Perfect Day

What to do on a beautifully perfect day?  Ride the bike,

to join the family for dinner after church.  Our advice to Texas visitors--go to one of these little unassuming places for the best barbecue.

They are very welcoming,

and serve the best brisket.

After dinner, ride the bike to the kid's house and instruct your grandkids on the fine are of throwing a yo-yo while everyone changes out of church clothes.

Ride the bike back to the house and go fishing for the rest of the day.

Everyone caught lots of fish, but Emma caught the only bass, and

Gramps caught a catfish.

How to wind down a beautiful day?  Dairy Queen treats, of course!

Only one more afternoon with our family here.

No Babies Sitting Here

With Jr and Brandey gone all day at a "mud run" (mud obstacle course), we had a whole day of fun with Alyssa, Emma, Ava, and Coy.  We took two breaks--one to eat pizza for lunch, and another for resting.  Coy, Alyssa and I snoozed while the girls and Gramps lay around watching tv.  Otherwise, it was nonstop action.

Gramps teaching Ava to walk the dog

7 hours later when Jr and Brandey returned, it was time to play with the drone (60 minutes to charge, 7 minutes of flight time),

enjoy a shady visit outside,

and goof off in the gym.

Winding down

Grandpa, don't go!

12 hours later we finally arrived back home.

A long day, but all in all a fun one.

Gone Fishin'

A gorgeous afternoon, perfect for fishing.  The family visited us at our rv park pond for a bit of fun.

The fish were biting.  Everyone got in on the action except Grandpa (and later, Jr), the designated baiter and hook remover(s), and me, the photographer.

Four hours and over 90 fish later (Emma and Ava caught most of them),  for dinner we ate...

Not Fish!!!

Good night!

Busy Day

Today was big class day at the gym, which meant that there were a ton of kids there too.  Somehow the youngsters seemed to gravitate to Duane.

That little fella on the right adopted him on the spot.

Whenever Coy would call him Grandpa, the other little guy would say, "No! That's MY grandpa!"

When class was over and everyone gone, the twins made a surprise for us.

Everyone helped add curb appeal to the gym.

After Brandey made spaghetti for dinner, we goofed off with the kids a bit before time for us to head home.

Never a dull moment with this group!

1 Year And 13 Days

Today we celebrated my 13th and last consecutive birthday and Duane's one year anniversary of his knee replacement surgery.  We hung out with the family.  Jr worked out in the gym

and Brandey made dinner before goofing off with the kids and us.

Pizza

and cupcakes, yum!!!

I received two more presents.  Emma and Ava custom made this rubber band bracelet and necklace in my favorite colors.

With Alyssa and Coy in bed we enjoyed a game of Yahtzee with the girls.

Since we don't visit the family until the girls are home from school, we have the mornings to ourselves.  The weather turned rainy and cold today, but hopefully we'll have some nice days to geocache.

Stay tuned,
