Reunited

We started our last day of fun and games with (grandkids) Allie and Luke with breakfast at a locally owned cafe in Kilgore, Tx.

Back at the house we did various activities including finishing a jigsaw puzzle

and playing a game called Tripoly.

In the afternoon heavy rain and thunderstorms kept us indoors.

Luke opted to play an online interactive game with a friend.  It was really weird hearing only his side of the conversation.

Allie, Duane and I had fun using Skipbo cards to play a game called Golf.  (Notice the heavy rain outside.)

The ice cream came out after supper.  Instead of the usual bowlful, Allie opted for her ice cream and hot fudge on a waffle.  Hmmm.

Reunited at last.

Wore Them Out

We mostly played games with Allie and Luke today,

with breaks between games for some exercise,

a chore or two,

a trip to the Fishin' Shak with Allie giving Gramps a ride

while I followed Luke as he showed me the bike trails he'd made through the woods.  Along the various trails he's  added a turn bank,

a tree to ride

and a jump hill

After all that exercise and several games the kids pooped out.

After some supper, though, they found the strength to finish the Phase 10 game.

Luke was the winner--probably because he had extra strength from his lemonade float.

Lemonade float?  Eeewww!

I Did It Again!

Yesterday afternoon we moved into son Jeremy's house to stay with Allie and Luke until Sunday (see In Charge blog).  We played games after supper then as we did today.  Yesterday I forgot to take any fun pictures, as I did again today!  To make myself feel better about that, as well as to combat the chilly, wet, gray weather we are now not enjoying, I decided to travel to a sunny, warmer time.

Welcome to 2015 on the Road To Bagdad.  Along this winding road through the southwest Arizona desert,

we found saguaro cactus,

Joshua trees,

painted rocks,

and this beautiful red tailed hawk.

Feeling better now,

In Charge

We have moved out of our house in into son Jeremy's house for the next 4 days.  Jeremy and Jennifer are away on a trip for their anniversary while we visit with granddaughter Allie and grandson Luke.  While we are here the dining room table is our new office and crafting space.

We picked the kids up from school and each did out own things for the rest of the afternoon.  Gramps and Luke played Horse between rain showers.  Allie did homework, and I did laundry, visited my library in the attic, and made supper.

After supper we played Uno for a while then relaxed in the living room with our various individual activities.

Early to bed for all of us.

Since Duane received his leather working kit for Christmas, he has been been busy making all kinds of useful stuff.  Included in his projects are:

one wallet

two utility knife belt holders

three gun holsters (including the one bottom left in the group pic below)

six phone cases

seven mouse pads

 and one pickleball paddle cover

In progress are three sets of spur straps and my purse.

Perfection!

Warm sun and blue sky, with a high of 77 prompted me to put on shorts and a short sleeved tshirt for my walk today.  The wind was cool enough to keep me comfortable in the warm sun.

We'd like the rest of the winter like this, please!

During My Winter Vacation

The 1500 pieces in this puzzle are all cut almost identically, so that each piece must fit perfectly.  This means that the border pieces have to be rearranged many times if there is no point of reference such as the sign edge, the tall light tip, and the left hand light fixture.  The top 10 left hand border pieces I rearranged at least 6 times before I hit the right combination which was dictated by accidently finding the right arrangement for sky pieces.

Happy to finish, happy the black water valve thawed!
