Duane’s surgeon this morning confirmed that Duane is doing very well for this stage of his recovery. He said that any muscle hardness or swelling of one knee more than the other is normal and that his knees look good and even admired his incision scars (and his own handiwork). He wants to see Duane in a year. After this visit, Duane declared that he was driving. He did very well as we maneuvered through Tyler traffic to the Barnes and Noble to spend the rest of our gift card. I bought Christmas presents and a book of different kinds of pencil puzzles for myself. Our goal when we left this morning was the Longhorn Steakhouse for lunch, but found that we were mistaken. The closest Longhorn is in Plano, 80 or so miles from Tyler, or in Shreveport, LA, about the same distance from Kilgore. We settled for another of our favorites, Firehouse Subs, before heading home. Duane said it felt weird to be driving again. I was perfectly happy to be back in my passenger seat.
Later,
Louise and Duane
