One day we took a bike ride around a part of the Ocala National Forest. We crossed the drawbridge in Astor. This the St. Johns River as we went over the bridge.
An unuaually clear stand of pines.
Most of the forest looks like this.
This is one of several recreational areas in the forest. We stopped by this one to check it out.
Campsites
Nice open areas
Nice big paved camp sites with full hookups--$16 a night for Golden Age Pass holders. We decided it would suit us if we came back this way.
Apparently there are bears in them there woods.
Lots of places for those critters to hide!
Part of the outskirts of Astor.
A downtown business.
Going across the bridge
There are a few farms and ranches scattered around.
Down the street from Astor is the town of Barberville. It has two claims to fame. One is this little corner open-air market. Yard art anyone?
Also available are any kind of pot available from Mexico.
I called this place little, but it actually went on forever.
I'm afraid of bears--for a reason!
Our home sweet home.
See our house in the back?
Next--Barberville, part two

WOW...you two are blogging manics!
What a gorgeous area. $16/night...what a wonderful deal!
Oh I would love to see that yard art. There are always so many cool unique items.
Is Louise losing her mind? What the heck is she trying to prove by putting her arm in that bear's mouth?
I clicked on that bear photo and see Louise's new hair do. It is darling! I haven't seen it short. How cute!
